Graphic Design- Illustrator:
Graphic Design - Illustrator is a semester-long course that introduces students to fundamental design principles and the elements of art while working toward more complex design projects. Students learn the art of sketching, storyboarding and technical drawing as well as Color Theory and Art History. They scan drawings and use Adobe Illustrator, a vector based design program, to finish final concepts. Next Course: AP Studio 2-D (Digital Graphic Art). Product Design and 3D Modeling:
Industrial Design equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to apply professional design processes in order to solve problems with mass-produced consumer products. Students will learn the product design process through research, drawing and marker rendering skills, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, Rhino which is a 3D modelling program in order to use the 3D printer. This course prepares students to work toward a degree in the field of Industrial Design. The course fee for using the 3D printer and purchasing student design materials and sketchbook is $20. Painting:
Painting is a semester-long art course that goes in depth into building painting skills, using mediums such as watercolor, oil pastels, tempera and acrylic paint. Students will build on skills acquired in Art Essentials and further their understanding of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. There is a $25 course fee that covers the cost of art materials that are handed out in class. <Painting Syllabus - Google Docs>
AP Drawing:
This is a college-level course for self-motivated students who want to concentrate on drawing and painting. The issues of mark-making, line, surface, space, light and shade, and composition are the focus of study. Students can work with any materials, processes and ideas. Students submit portfolios that contain images and brief writings to document their inquiry-guided investigation. Students are expected to develop mastery in concept, composition, and execution of ideas. College Board standards will be used to evaluate artwork, as well as class participation, and the development of critiquing artwork. In addition to earning high school credit, students can receive advanced standing or college credit by taking the AP exam administered in May and earning a qualifying score. Everyone is automatically signed up for the exam. It is $95 and must be decided by Nov 2, 2022. If you decide NOT to take the exam you must go in and cancel the exam for yourself.
