Advanced Composition
Advanced Composition is a semester-long course that prepares 2- and 4-year college-bound students for success and academic rigor, reading, writing and research. Through critical nonfiction reading, scholarly research (MLA style) and written academic argumentation, students gain knowledge and confidence in writing at the college level. Evaluation focuses primarily on written papers, but daily work and participation are also considered.

CWU ENG 101/College English I
This is Central Washington University's freshman English course. Students develop skills necessary for academic writing, including summarizing, reading sources critically and responding to them, synthesizing multiple perspectives, and using academic writing conventions. CWU ENG 102/College English II
This is Central Washington University's freshman composition course focused on rhetoric around the theme of social justice. This course develops skills in research-based academic argument through assignments involving evaluation, analysis, and synthesis of multiple sources. More information will be available in the class syllabus, available in late August. 

English 11
English 11 is a two-semester course that builds upon and improves students’ writing, reading, speaking/listening, language and research skills as outlined in the C
ommon Core State Standards for grade 11. Students read literary and informational texts; write essays in the informative/explanatory, argumentative and narrative modes; and participate in individual and group speaking/listening activities and research projects.
