Honors English 9
PreAP/Honors English 9 will provide students with the advance reading, writing, and thinking skills necessary to prepare students for the expectations of the Common Core State Standards, as well as for the rigors of advance placement and college courses. Extensive required reading in classics, contemporary literature, poetry, and nonfiction will serve as a springboard for literary analysis, process essays, on demand timed writes, and personal response papers. This class requires more reading, more demanding writing assignments, and more out of class time than English 9. More information can be found in the Link to Class Syllabus.

Honors English 10
PreAP/Honors English 10 will provide students with the advance reading, writing, and thinking skills to prepare students for the expectations of the Common Core State Standards, as well as for the rigors of AP and college courses. By the end of this course, students will be able to analyze and interpret samples of purposeful writing, identify and explain an author's use of rhetorical strategies, use rhetorical strategies and techniques in composition, create and sustain original arguments, and gain control of various writing processes.
